Lesson 2.3
Written by Dr. Bre Hayward
Learning Objective
Adjust the habit stack to the seasons — humidity, dry cold air, and the transitions between them.

Humidity swells the fiber and adds moisture the air supplies for free — which is why rich sealants feel heavy and frizz shows up uninvited. Favor lighter products, expect wash frequency to rise with sweat and activity, and let anti-humidity simplicity be the theme.
Indoor heat and low humidity pull moisture out of the hair all day. Answer with more frequent moisture, heavier sealing on the lengths, satin at night, and physical protection from wind and cold. Static, dryness and mid-shaft brittleness are the seasonal complaints this stack answers.
Twice a year — and after any big climate or lifestyle change — reassess the routine. Adjust one or two habits, not the whole system: swap sealant weight, shift wash frequency, add a humidifier to the bedroom. The anchor habits stay; the edges tune.
Key Takeaways
Humidity supplies moisture for free — go lighter, wash a little more
Dry cold air pulls moisture out — add moisture, seal heavier, protect
Satin matters in every season, most in the driest
Seasonal transitions call for one or two adjustments, not a rebuild
Why This Matters
The routine that worked all summer quietly fails every January — not because your hair changed, but because the air did. Seasonal tuning keeps the same routine working all year.
